Description:
This outdoor session is all about letting go of perfection and embracing the unpredictable beauty of watercolor. We will be covering a variety of techniques and how to create landscapes from the abstract textures they form.
Whether you are a beginner wanting to learn more or a seasoned painter looking to loosen up your style, this workshop will change the way you look at watercolor and the natural world.
Materials list:
Watercolor paper – Cold press, 140lb or 300lb, pads, blocks or sheets
Watercolor paints – Tube paints, pan paints, liquid watercolor
Palette – All types
Brushes – Flat, round, liner, etc
Dry media – Salts (all varieties), watercolor pencils (or other water-soluble media), powdered pigments, anything other media you’d like to experiment with
Container for water
Spray bottle for water
Paper towels

Bio:
Nathan Popp is a professional watercolorist and custom art framer based in the New River Valley of Southwest Virginia. His formal artistic journey began at the University of North Texas, where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Watercolor in 2008. He continued his specialized training at Radford University studying under renowned watercolorist ZL Feng, completing his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Watercolor and Drawing in 2014. Currently, Nathan is the curator of the Andrew W. Ross Student Art Gallery in McConnell Library at Radford University.
