Title: Painting the Vista and Landscape in Oil
Description: This lesson is about staying true to our ‘original inspiration’ that touches us so deeply - we Must paint it! See your subject w/ your heart’s eye and paint it! The artists will experience a demo of how to approach the scene of choice to bring it to life on canvas or paper. All artists, regardless of medium are welcome.
Materials list: Plein air gear if you have it! Or other media of choice. More specific list provided to those who register.
Margaret Sue Turner Wright is a full-time artist known for plein air painting, and figurative painting! Her bold, impressionistic style has earned Perry F. Kendig Award nominations (2017, 2018, 2025). A former National Gallery of Art Copyist Program member, she sells her work, accepts commissions, and has been featured on book covers. She also creates pieces honoring her father, NASCAR founder and Hall of Famer Curtis Turner, and works from Gallery 202 Studios in downtown Roanoke, VA.
