XPIRED-32nd North American Dendroecological Fieldweek (NADEF)

The 32nd Annual North American Dendroecological Fieldweek (NADEF) will be held at the University of Nevada - Reno campus at Lake Tahoe Campus.

The fieldweek will run from July 19th through July 28th, 2023

Registration fees:
  • Students: $1750 US
  • Professionals: $1800 US

  • Tree-Ring Society Members :
    • Students: $1700
    • Professionals: $1750

    Your registration fee includes room and board for the entire workshop.

    Registration fees are due by June 16, 2023.

      • Saturday, July 22- Laboratory day. Evening lecture: CooRecorder and Cdendro.
      • Sunday, July 23- Laboratory day. Evening lecture: Detrending and Standardization.
      • Monday, July 24- Free day with hiking opportunities.
      • Tuesday, July 25- Laboratory day. Evening lecture: Dendro packages in R.
      • Wednesday, July 26- Laboratory day. Evening lecture: CaptuRING.
      • Thursday, July 27- Laboratory day. 1:00 PM presentation of projects. Closing celebration.
      • Friday, July 28- Travel day.

        Deliverables:
        Each group will develop and deliver a presentation to all of the fieldweek participants. Each group will also produce a 5-page written report.

            Accommodations
            The workshop will be held at the UNR - Lake Tahoe Campus. The campus is located in Incline Village, with access to amenities and recreation. Lodging will be dormitory style, with three people per room with a private bathroom. You should bring a sleeping bag and pillow for bedding. We are checking to see if a linen service is available for an extra charge. Meals will be served in the campus cafeteria. Please note any dietary restrictions on the registration page.

            Getting There
            The first event on July 19 is dinner around 6 PM, followed by introductions by all of the participants, and an introductory lecture. For those driving, the University of Nevada - Reno at Lake Tahoe Campus is located at 999 Lake Tahoe Boulevard, Incline Village, NV 89451. Parking is available onsite. For those flying, we will have shuttle buses to bring you from the airport on July 19 and for the return trip on July 28. Please arrange to arrive at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport by 4 PM on July 19 (if possible) so that we can get you to the Lake Tahoe Campus in time for the first events. Also, please arrange to fly out from Reno after 10 AM (if possible) on July 28 so that we have time to get you down to the airport without having to leave the field station before 7 AM.
