This annual conference is a grassroots effort hosted by C-HEARTS (the Contemplative Higher Education Alliance for Research, Teaching, and Service), presenting a diverse array of perspectives and methods about the inclusion of contemplative practices into the higher education community. Research demonstrates that contemplative practices, such as mindfulness and similar self-reflection, can enhance undergraduate and graduate students’ cognitive and academic performance, mental health and wellbeing, stress management, emotional intelligence, and development as whole individuals—all attributes that are critical for life and career success. Further, it enhances the health, well-being, and innovativeness of professionals from every domain of higher education.
The
2023 Contemplative Practices for Higher Education Conference will feature two keynote speakers as well as a full-day contemplative retreat. It will also provide opportunities for faculty, administrators, graduate students, and undergraduate students to present sessions, panels, and posters based on current projects across all disciplines—including research, best practices for teaching and learning, and student life. Such opportunities advance the knowledge of our community and provide important professional development advancement for all of our presenters.

Established by a founding gift from InStill Mindfulness, this pool of funds provides scholarships to attend the conference, or other C-HEARTS programs, for students and/or professionals experiencing financial need or hardships. Sponsors may indicate how they would like to set up further contributions to the scholarship fund.
